Rhythm May 10, 2014 - Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Fort Lauderdale Once again Brazilian Voices energized the Amaturo Theater at Fort Lauderdale’s Broward Center for the Performing Arts on the eve of Mother’s day with another delightful concert. Rhythm was charged with music, dance, and humor. This sold out concert took place a few days after Brazilian Voices received its 10th International Press Award for Best Brazilian Musical Group in the United States.Choreographer, actor, and dancer Pablo Malco opened the show with a captivating solo performance, inviting the audience to reflect upon rhythm. Sosa, along with the percussionists from Samba RJ.The concert featured performances by Fábio Barros and dancers from Cia do Axé, who delivered impeccable choreographies, including an energetic Maracatú. Capoeira performers led by Professor Pica-Pau and Berimbau players from the LuandAngola center were also among the guest artists. This energy-packed, one-of-a-kind concert captivated the audience with exhilarating Brazilian music by Gilberto Gil, Djavan, Daniela Mercury, Maria Gandú, Lenine, Milton Nascimento, Marisa Monte, Chico Buarque de Holanda, Caetano Veloso, and Gilberto Gil, among others. The program had a unique rendition of Alicia Key’s hit of Girl on Fire complemented by a solo dance performance by Andréa Araújo that educed a standing ovation.
