Beyond Bossa
A performance highlighting the extraordinary beat, musicality, and poetry of Brazilian music with a fusion of vibrant rhythms presented in a fresh, new, and unexpected way.
This astounding show came to life by a remarkable group of 40 singers who delivered another dynamic performance at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 8:00 PM. Tuning in ideas across boundaries and decades, the show took the audience through a journey beyond the long-established Brazilian rhythms of Bossa Nova, Samba, and Pop. The performance was highlighted with the participation of members of South Florida Taiko Dojo ensemble, flamenco dancers from Angeles Gitanos, and the special appearance of the renowned composer, arranger, and award winning pianist Antonio Adolfo. These voices along with a talented band performed original arrangements interpreting Djavan, Tom Jobim, Milton Nascimento, Marisa Monte and Caetano Veloso among others.
The nine-time Brazilian International Press Award winner brought a mix of unique, tender, modern-contemporary, passionate, and poetic performance with powerful Brazilian rhythms and melodies. This concert was under the artistic direction of Sue Scaglione.
The thrill of 40 breathtaking voices was accompanied by Jorge L. Sosa, Cesar Santana, Claudio Silva, Goetz Kujack, and Gil Cardoso.
