Brazilian Voices AfroBrazil Comes to the Broward Center with Another Exciting Performance!!!

09/08/08, Fort Lauderdale - After so many sold-out concerts, the five-time Brazilian International Press Award winner is back with a vibrant show. AfroBrazil comes to the Amaturo Theater of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, November, 1st at 8:30 p.m.

AfroBrazil is the best opportunity you have to enjoy the rich and unique musical rhythms that were born long ago when the liveliness of Brazilian music fused with the African heritage of playing drums. Two continents, separated millions of years ago, are reunited on stage in the voices of almost 50 singers that will deliver a spectacular medley of genres like, Maracatu, Samba, and Reggae from famous interpreters like Gilberto Gil, Milton Nascimento, Bob Marley, Lenine, among others. Percussion beats will echo the intense and powerful energy of two cultures that thrive in music and passion.

The night will feature special guests as the locally acclaimed Jazz musician, composer and producer George Tandy, and his talented band. George is an incredible jazz and adult contemporary piano player, and has the best and strongest Party Dance Bands in South Florida, with special appearance of Jamaican singer Shari MacDonnough. Another special guest will be Diogo Brown from Brazil, an amazing bass player, songwriter and producer from Niterói, Rio de Janeiro. His outstanding work has been previously showcased with Brazilian Voices last May at SAMBA Concert at Amaturo Theater.

Under the artistic direction of Jade, Brazilian Voices will bring another exciting theme, repertoire and original arrangements specially for this one-time concert.

Brazilian Voices headlines its concerts at the venue as part of the Broward Center's Arts Access Program, which helps community groups present performances for, and about, their communities. Brazilian Voices has also performed with great success in New York, Barcelona and Madrid.

Tickets are $25 and $30, available through Broward Center’s AutoNation Box Office at 954-462-0222 or www.browardcenter.org or www.ticketmaster.com.

The Broward Center for the Performing Arts is located in the Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District at 201 SW Fifth Avenue in Fort Lauderdale.

AfroBrazil is part of Brazilian Voices Cultural program. Three other programs running permanent and simultaneous are Brazilian Voices Educational - dedicated to educate children and adults about Brazil and its culture, language, geography and modernity; Brazilian Voices Arts and Healing - singing to patients and their families at hospitals, hospices and nursing homes, the voices promote well-being through the healing effects of music; and Brazilian Voices Kids - first implemented a few years ago at Miami Children’s Museum, now based in Weston, teaching children Brazilian songs, a learning process through music.
